I love all the different varieties of wild trout we find in our waters regardless of what color spots they wear. They are all treasures to me. To be totally honest though, I really have a soft spot for the headwaters that the “trout of the fountain” call home. There’s an indescribable comfort in these off the path places where we find nature in its best form, where there’s comfort in quietness, where the stones wear cloaks of moss and lichen, and where we encounter the speckled beauties that call these little places home. Brook trout seldom ever live in places that aren’t as equally beautiful as they are. It’s always rewarding to visit these little rivers and the trout of the fountain.
