Now that my stock box of DNA Spinners looks to be in good shape, it's time to move on to the CDC Thorax Duns. In any pattern that I tie, I always warm up by starting with the larger sizes before moving on to the tiny stuff. Why? It builds consistency in form and proportion before moving to smaller flies that are harder to tie. It re-familiarizes me with the materials and material quantities. Once I've warmed up tying the bigger bugs, those little #20 Baetis Olives will tie up like a breeze. I started filling the Thorax Dun box with March Browns and have moved on to Slate Drakes. While it's only the first of August as I write this, September's Isonychia hatches will be here soon and I'll be ready for them. Till then ....
