Time of the Season .....

We are only a few days from the middle of August; and while this time of the season is usually the thick of the “dog days of summer”, Indian Summer seems to have started here more than a week ago. The trees are already showing the first golden tones of the next season and the nights here have been refreshingly cool. While the passing of a short summer season brings a certain sadness; there is the knowledge and anticipation that cooler water is coming, and our trout will soon wear their brightest colors of the year. There is also the return of these beautiful mayflies for a second appearance in a few weeks. Whatever name you choose to call them; Slate Drake, White Gloved Howdy, Dun Variant, Slate Wing Mahogany Dun, Iso, or their Latin name Isonychia bicolor, the trout don’t seem to pass on the feeding opportunity that their hatches bring. Tie a few imitations up for the fall and get ready to tie one on. There is a new season on the way. Till next week …… www.ramsayflies #ItsAboutTheFish #PAWild
